    The usual recommendation is to never clear all memory unless you have a current backup of the NVram or at least have a current printout of all SP settings. The problem comes in when you have a corrupted NVram. Before going to the expense of replacing the NVram, try restoring settings from the birth certificate.

    I have also seen inexperienced techs who don't look at the screen before pressing "Execute" and clear all memory, 5801, when what they were wanting to do was clear a fusing unit code, 5810.

    use this codes

    in sp mode

    4712 = 3666
    4713 = 3741
    4714 = 4082

    its works for me

Single sided scans and copies ok but anything passing by the Contact image sensor (CCD array) for the second side is reproduced as pure black. I havent been in front of the copier yet, but he has replaced the CIS assy and the fault remains.

    Anyone seen this before?

    Doing Sp 5801-002 Engine Memory clear might as well be SP 5801-001 as -002 is the damaging part of -001 both erase all engine settings, birth certificate tech made adjustments such as registration and edge erase margin.

It seems that somehow the NVram also spat the dummy on some of the adf values. After re-entering the values correctly it all came back to life. As it turns out the cust had some power difficultys and has a auto switching generator running a few times.....when all this started to happen.
    Sounds like a location that could use quality power protection.

    But the thread is almost 9 years old. Dead and buried.
