Even easier way is to use side cutters to cut the bit of plastic on the fuser base - cut the bit that locks into the pin on the machine. The plastic breaks real easy - dont try to remove the pin in the machine as its spotwelded in. Thats to use a 3002 / 3502 fuser into a 4502/ 5502 machine and vice versa.

Saves removing the thermisters and base assy.
The pin on the machine side comes out really easily..a couple of twists with pliers and it's done.
