The dev roller is probably fully coated black.

Are you using OEM toner and the correct developer? B296 9640?
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

    Hit it.

    2. Make the following SP mode changes:
    - SP2201-01 (Development Bias): From 560 to 660
    - SP2201-02 (Development Bias for ID sensor pattern): From 400 to 500 "

    1. take off the toner bottle from the machine
    2. print/copy while appears the "toner empty"
    3. clean the developer roller, clean the waste toner unit, toner bottle unit.
    4. change the sp modification
    5. check the sp 2.001 (charge voltage) set the default 1.500 V !!!

    Re: Ricoh MP4000B

Define "servicing the machine", as in all service consumables replaced, or a "open, vaccum out and clean" service ?

Make the following SP mode changes:
    - SP2201-01 (Development Bias): From 560 to 660
    - SP2201-02 (Development Bias for ID sensor pattern): From 400 to 500 "
Are these not the changes that were suggested, before they decided to modify the developer roller to a new coating version ? Is it the old version dev roller or the modfied one in the 'B' ?
