    3245c Fax Transmission problem

Hi guys, I have a customer with a 3245c machine (yes i know they are getting on abit) & the problem is to certain destinations they cannot send out going faxes.
I know what the problem is but im struggling to find the solution.
Can anyone tell me how to turn off the 'Super G3' mode so it is just a standard G3.

I realise it is a soft bit switch setting but after trawling through the service manuals i cant find the correct setting.

    Your help appreciated as always.

Unusual, the communication speed is set during negotiation between devices. If some devices cannot negotiate properly then the connection is dropped. You could see if there is a setting under the parameter list, under User Tools -> Fascimile, to force a lower transmission speed and or type.

    Re: 3245c Fax Transmission problem

Thanks for your reply Reuben, I have tried that but to no avail.
The reason I want to change from Super G3 to normal G3 is because I had the same problem with an MP2000 that wouldnt fax to one particular number & I was advised by ricoh tech support that the reason for this was the recipient had a particularly old machine.
That cured my problem there so im hoping to do the same here.

Incidentally, who do you work for in Bristol? I was working for an office equipment company there myself for 9 years.

    Re: 3245c Fax Transmission problem

I've copied a couple of steps from a document that I have related to Faxing via VOIP, where speeds may need to be adjusted (Although I've never had to do it myself)
    Hopefully it helps:

    Deactivation of V8 - Protocols ( "Super G3" / max. 14400 Bit/s )
    SP 1-105-004 ( G3 SW 03 ) Bit 2 to 0

With some telephone systems it is necessary to fix the speed of the modem to 9600 bits (sending and receiving)
    SP 1-105-006 ( G3 SW 05 ) Bit 0 and 1 to 0 / Bit 2 to 1 / Bit 3 to 0
    SP 1-105-007 ( G3 SW 06 ) Bit 0 and 1 to 0 / Bit 2 to 1 / Bit 3 to 0

You may also want to try turning off ECM, it's solved a lot of fax issues for me: SP 1-104-002, change bit 0 to 0.
