    Preparation

1)download the java firmware from my-ricoh - extract the zip ,file copy the XXX.fwu(for offline) file inside the subfolder of "romdata" > "D104" folder.

On page 532 of the service manual, you can read the firmware updating procedure. if it is not clear, ask questions in this thread.

    Re: JAVA UPDATE

Download the Java Update Tool from My-Ricoh.com.
Double click the D1065743J_upd.exe file to self extract it.
Power down the MFD, remove the JAVA crd from it an insert in to PC/Laptop with the extracted firmware installed. (Pre-assuming you have an SD card slot or adapter)

    Using explorer,
    1. Note the driver letter that has been associated to the SD card by the operating system.
2 Copy the SDK directory to your PC/Laptop as a back up if the update should fail.

Returning to the 7.22 folder that you extracted earlier double click the update to ver 7.bat file and follow the cmd screen prompts. BE PATIENT it takes a few minutes, you'll know when its done, the batch file will ask you to press the space bar and the close the window automatically.

Remove the updated SD-card from the PC/Laptop, reinstall it on the MFD (in the correct slot), power up and enjoy.
