OK, this is gonna sound a bit weird, but please bear with me.
I have a custom System/Copy firmware that Ricoh wrote for us for the MP201.
It was only developed with remote installation in mind, so there is only an RFU version available, at least at present.
We have found that the remote install procedure doesn't work so hot in some locations (most likely due to slow connections and such), so we must install using the old fashioned SD card method.
My question is this: Is it possible to simply change the file extension from RFU to FWU, copy it to an SD card (in the correct "ROM data" folder, of course). and flash as normal ?
I don't have a machine to test with, and I can't afford to brick a customers production machine.
I called the help desk yesterday, and got "It's not supported, but we've never tried it", which was about what I expected.
Since the files are binary, I wasn't able to read anything usable with Notepad++.
Thanks!
