    Re: Mp3350 scan density calibrate?

Okay, all good ideas, but read this carefully all...

When we SCAN TO EMAIL, the image is fine, no defects. If we PRINT OUT a report, OR PRINT from PC it is fine. Only when SCAN TO COPY does the defect appear. Thus is if was a laser it would ALWAYS be bad, if the doc feeder was bent it would make problems scanning to email as well.

I understand this is a tough one, thus my request for help. Has ANYONE seen this?

    Thanks

    Kelly

I think you need to start from a fixed reference point.

    1. Obtain some preprinted copier test charts with Black and White gray scale on at least two sides, preferrably all four. They are usually sold in packs of ten. Scan one to email and careefully compare the gray scales, especially the low end. If there is a difference no matter how slight, you have a minor scanning issue.
    2. Now download a printable test chart with Black and White gray scale on at least two sides, preferrably all four. Print the test chart and compare the gray scales. Again if there is a difference, you have a printing problem.

One other thing, I always set the copier default to "Text" instead of "Text/Photo". This will tend to make the overall copy darker, especially if the original has slight differences in text density.

hate to have to tell you but it can be the pcu when print is fine and copies are too lite (but usually the entire copy is lite in that case)

Okay mate, I can read. I suggest you read what has been mentioned and try it. Replace PCU and dev together, clean optics and laser shield. If that does NOT get the copies perfect then it is time to look deeper.

Yes I know you say prints are fine but you have chosen to ignore what myself and others have suggested. As far as I can tell you have tried very little to get this fault resolved and if I were your customer I'd be expecting a quicker fix for such a minor problem.

PS It CAN be PCU and dev.

Haha, I know it defies what we all know about copies and prints but we are not trying to screw you over, like I said, I have had this most likely half a dozen times on these boxes. Best of luck and I hope it gets you and your customer out of the $h!+

After cleaning the optics change gamma settings SP4-918. They are defaulted to 15. I raise them to 18 or higher. Higher the number - Darker the image. Hope this helps.

Made density adjustment sp4918, cleaned laser and changed pcu. All good!

now I go beat head on wall!

    thanks all!
