There's a good chance he scrambled those sp-numbers. I don't have a mpc2050 with me to verify atm, but I do remember SP5067 is a valid sp-mode? Changes part replacement type between tech<>user.

    I'll look through it.

He was referring to the MP C2051/2551 manual, not the MP C2050/2551.

Have you reset the cleaning unit PM counter, SP 7804-018?

It would be nice if you would tell us exactly which waste toner container you were talking about (we can't see your machine after all). But if you are referring to waste toner container 1, look at the cavity in the machine the container is installed in. On the left hand side, you will see the gear that drives the augers inside the container. Pretty close to the gear, you will see a photo-interrupter style sensor. That is the sensor that stops the machine when waste toner container 1 is full. As such, if that sensor is contaminated with toner, not even a new waste toner container will help. Try cleaning that sensor and see what happens when you put the new container in.

Thank you guys for your help. Machine is a MPC2551
    Waste toner container 1.
    Photosensor was cleaned.
Sp 7-807-18 or 23 do not cancel the error.

    May be a faulty board?

Use the input checks in the service mode to check the operation of the waste toner collection full photo sensor.

Also, check the operation of the auger inside the waste toner collection bottle. I have had one delivered, brand new with the auger snapped.

Also, make doubly sure that the message is not saying waste toner collector 2. This is a separate waste toner collector that collects waste toner from the transfer belt unit only. It can be emptied, but usually if this is full, the unit has already gone past its life.

Re: MPC2050 waste toner container, empty or replace?

Bit late to the party here, but I have a bunch of these.

My basic recommendation is dump the door bottle every visit. That sucker is the peanut bladder of toner collection bottles and doesn't hold much.

The side tank will hold much more and will go 120K easy. I typically empty the door 2-1 over the side tank.

I do not reset the PM counter for the side tank unless I actually replace the cleaning unit. I want to know how many copies are on the cleaning unit if the customer has an issue. The usual replacement by the book is 120k. I have had customers that do a lot of full color and the cleaning unit won't make 120k before you start getting smeared images after the first 5 or 10 prints/copies. If a customer does very little color and sticks to mostly black, that cleaning unit can go 200k or 300k with no real issues.

Waste toner bottle 2 detects full when it starts to back up and the collection coil shifts and trips switch. sometimes you just have to push the coil back over.
