SC 101 if I remember correctly has to do with scanning the white reference during power up. I usually see it when I forget and turn the MFP back on while I have the exposure glass removed.
This is becoming a real problem on these machine and no where does Ricoh have a solution for this problem ........Has any one on here got a solution for this problem on the MP301.
We have replaced the CTL BCU IPU SBU and no Joy. And yes we cleaned the white level plate.
Currently I have 6 machines doing this at one of our major accounts.
I will appreciate any information on this thanks
This is what the manual says:
Symptom:
Exposure Lamp Error
The scanner has scanned the white
plate, but cannot detect the certain white
level.
Cause:
• Defective exposure lamp
• Defective exposure lamp stabilizer
• Defective power source harness
• Defective signal harness
• High-voltage cable leak
• Defective darkness starting
characteristic
Confusing if you consider that this machine uses a CIS assembly which means that there is no LAMP but rather an LED array.
Have you replaced the CIS array as yet? Seeing as it cannot be opened or cleaned.
Press the GREEN button!!
Thanks to all for your input. Well I have gone and spend some proper time on one of these machines and think I found the problem.
I will try and upload a video later it seems that the some if the LED's on the scanner unit does not light up when checking the reference.
Conclusion replace the scanner. Make sure you have stock of this item
Thanks all
Can you not just get the CIS?
Seems you can it just has an odd name:
D1171651
CARRIAGE:SCANN
ER:ASS'Y

Press the GREEN button!!
we have just had one do this this week ordered the scanner led unit and still got a problem we will try bicu as the harness are out of stock with ricoh
will see how we get on
got one of the guys to fit a Bicu board which fixed the fault
We had one of these this week and it was caused by the LED array having some dead ones in the centre. Replaced the assembly and all was well.
I was surprised to discover that there is a CCD with SBU and mirrors as part of this assembly. This seems to be a combination of a LED array with CCD and not a CIS like we thought.
Press the GREEN button!!
