Savin c4540. Won't come to ready

Start key never turns green after warmup.......hit clear modes 107 clear stop to bring up service mode screen which displays copy sp and printer sp but when you select either one instead of entering the sp mode it waits about 30 seconds and then beeps and displays the sp screen again. So cannot enter service mode at all. Copier boots up normally when you power it on but since copy key never turns green it cannot be used. When you hit the printer button to the left it is stuck on loading. If you hit system status from the main copy screen the Hdd says memory available. 0 percent. sounds like a bad hard drive to me but thought I'd post here too see if there were any ideas. Comments appreciated.

Thanks.....thought so. You don't suspect a board could cause this then? I'll try a hdd first. Do I need to load firmware after replacing the hdd or are the just install and you are done?

Try formatting all of the HDD, sometimes removing, formatting it within a caddy; then re-formatting within the machine, works best.

Removing it to format is the only option anyway since service mode is not accessable ........ Probably just going to order a new one and replace it to be safe. Appreciate your advice. Thanks.

Have found a few times if you try to enter Sp mode with the side / door / duplex open can give you the ability to enter hdd and reformat don't know why it works but have managed to overcome this problem a good few times - worth giving a go

Turning the machine on with a door open prevents process control from starting. With a bad HDD, the machine can hang when Process Control starts.
