    MPC4503

    Hi,

Customer uses LDAP for scanning on this machine.
He complaines that he must make to many actions for choosing a user when making a scan.
Is there a possibility to shorten this, for example, to make a shortcut/icon in the scanner display the same way
when you choose directly from the adresbook ?
    I've checked but I don't think LDAP works this way . . .

    anyone ?
    Thanks in advance

I also have a few customers that use LDAP, and they also complain about this. Easiest way is to program every email adress in the adress book. I know, it can be a lot of work when the amount of adresses is large. You can export the adress book to a .CSV-file using Smart Device Monitor and store this file on the server in the unfortunate event that the HDD of the machine crashes.

Use LDAP to look up the mail adress, then save it to the adressbook.
Make backup from webinterface when done.

Upload the backup to the next machine if needed.

One of the IT people that I see regularly insists that the Ricoh products he's had in the past "downloads" the LDAP information to the machine's addressbook. After multiple attempts to explain this I've given up.

For your benefit, an LDAP search is a one-time snapshot of a very narrow search criterion. It does not "download" anything. The number of steps required doesn't change to do a search. It is always more convenient to select a one-touch addressbook entry, than to do an LDAP search. Yes, there is some setup required. If you or your installer cannot spend the time to enter the data, it can be easily explained to an enduser, or maybe an enthusiastic salesman to enter some data. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

    Hi guys,
First of all, sorry for answering on that old topic but I have the exact same question.

My users complains that searching via LDAP is really annoying : you have to click on "Scanner/Specify.../Search.../Ldap/Name" then type some letters etc...

With the SOPs of 2017 is there any chance that we could create a shortcut on the home screen for example ?

    Thanks for your answers !
