Aficio 2075, resets itself!!!! (counter 0)

    Hello

I have a very strange problem. A customer called me last week, the machine has an SC 870 (Adress book Error), no other problem. I asked for the counter and he said "zero"....., first i thought he was kidding, he prints out the counter and send it via fax.....the counter was really "Zero", no serial number, no support phone number, nothing!!!....The machine works fine, till this morning...the customer calls me and the counter is again "zero"!!!.

    Any ideas??

Sounds like a typical faulty NVRAM: B064 9099

I tend to agree with Ruben. NVram can cause loss of counters and also SC 870. HDD cannot cause loss of counters. See if you can print the all SMC reports and get a closer estimation of what the actual counter might be, I.E counters in jam history or SC history. Back up what you can of the NVram and replace it.

Re: Aficio 2075, resets itself!!!! (counter 0)

Doesn't AF2075 have a mechanical counter anyway for redundancy?
    From the manual:
This machine has an electronic counting device that uses software to monitor thenumber of copies. In addition to the electronic counter of the NVRAM on the
controller board, the machine is also equipped with a mechanical counter.

    From the manual:
It is behind the inner right cover that is located to the right of the transfer belt unit. There is a cover stick over it. SP 5915 if set to 0 will disable the mechanical counter. If it is disconnected, say by a customer, without being disabled, SC 901 will occur and copying/printing will be prohibited.
