hello i have a problem with a ricoh mpc 3350: double-sided sheets come out wrinkled

What have you tried so far?
I tried to fix joggers drawer and check the paper path all seems ok.
it does not happen always, but quite frequently
the defect occurs ol in front and back.
from 2 drawer seems to happen.
thanks
You will first have to know where the wrinkling occurs. The Fusing Unit can be the cause, or maybe the paper isn't fed properly. Open one of the covers during printing to see where the wrinkling happens.
This is just guessing but I'd say it wrinkles after it comes out of the fuser for the second time, otherwise it wuldn't come out of machine at all.
Perhaps it isn't guided out propper, check out for anything off in gudes after the fuser, try diferent paper.
It culd be high humidity on paper.
Gears, springs, clutches, sliders, connectors and electronics...who on earth can tell what's wrong with it?
Well, I can tell you our office has been experiencing this on almost all of the new mp3353 model and the problem may be the same as your issue. The ribs on the gate pawl at the top of the duplex module are molded with a rough texture, maybe yours has the same problem or a nick in it. What's happening is when the pawl actuates to divert the first printed side to go above the exit assy before reversing direction, the lead edge of the paper is striking the rough surface of the ribs and either bending the corner or the paper ripples. Removing the pawl and smoothing the surface with scotch brite or emory cloth has solved the problem. Also check that the tabs that the pawl hinge pins go into are not too tight against the ends. This has happened on a few and prevents the pawl from fully actuating, just bend them apart slightly.
*I've compared the pawls on the new models to the old and there is a definite difference in texture. Maybe a different material, manufacturer or finishing defect. I have informed tech support but I don't know that they have received enough complaints yet to issue a bulletin.
- Check the pressure roller springs are located in the same notch either side or the pressure will be lob sided.
- Check the plastic on the lower fuser frame has not collapsed under the hot roller bearing(s) or the pressure will be lob sided.
Thank you all for the help I do the tests and then write the result hello
Dear All,
In Poland we have noticed epidemic paper wrinkling on MP3353 whilst duplex printing. At the moment we are testing entire Gate assembly (I mean Gate assembly including D3694677 part) taken from older MP2851.
Like someone said earlier, new Gate assembly looks poor and cheap. So, it seems good solution to use older assembly.
BTW. It looks that wrinkling is strictly depending on paper moisture and poor quality of mensioned above assembly
10 points go to Ricoh...
I dont want to hijack this thread, but it sounds very similar - maybe the same problem - as posted in this thread I started - MP2550 - MP2852 crinkling paper
All these black and white machines, right from the original MP2550 have crinkled paper and I have NEVER found the one definate cause for it. Are you sure its only doublesided that you get this problem? My gut feeling, thru seeing it many times is that its a coincidence you only see it double sided. Test it more and I figure it'll happen single sided too...
Ive replaced fusers, tray doors, paper, even entire duplex doors trying to fix this but the only time ive ever been sure ive fixed it was with a new PTR assy fitted - not just the roller but the entire assy.
I introduced the fault when I took it off a perfectly working machine, then refitted it and it crinkled straight away. I played around with it for a while, couldnt see or work out what I'd adjusted, then gave up and replaced the whole thing in disgust! I think it was a slight adjustment or play in the screws or hinges holding it on that caused it but I never got to the bottom of it ( think a micron of a gnats cock here....)
Check out the link above - lotsa good ideas to try! But id love to hear the fix too.
