I'm not sure what you can do in this situation and I understand what you're saying about the screen being blocked by the error message. You might try going into factory mode of the sp. Check your message box.

I managed to grab another machine MP 8001 and tried to create the same situation with fusing error and ''Service Mode Lock enabled'' after playing around for hours the conclusion is that ''SERVICE MODE LOCK ''can not be enabled or disabled when you have error condition on Machine neither through( WIM). So i'm out of ideas here and not sure if new NVRAM will be a help??
Here's what will happen with the new NVRAM. you will get around the service mode lock, you will be able to resolve the sc code issue, you will need to enter data from the "birth certificate" or the non default data report ( that you can not currently print) and you will loose your copy count(meter reading will now be 0 ). then when you install the original NVRAM the current sc code will reappear and the service mode lock will be on again.....
Mystic Crystal Revelations
I just tried this on an Aficio MP C2551. I turned on "Machine Management" in Administrator Authentication Management. I then logged to the User Tools as admin and turned Service Mode Lock ON. I was unable to get into SP mode. I then turned off "Machine Management" in Administrator Authentication Management. I was then able to get into SP mode. Finally, just to check, I turned back on "Machine Management" in Administrator Authentication Management. Service mode lock was still ON so I turned it off.
X2, except in my case I enabled all features in Administration Authentication. Using the WIM, if I only disabled Machine Management but not the others I could NOT enter SP mode. When I disabled all of the groups (User,Machine,Network and File) I could then enter SP mode.
Just an update on the Issue.
Finally log in as ''supervisor'' and reset the credentials back to default using WIM.
.
Log in as ''Admin '' in Administrator authentication Management and turned off ''Machine Management '' .
SP Mode Log in.
1902 web reset.
and bingo.
Thanks a ton kind souls for input and all your help i was help to fix this monster.
Regard's.
