Model?
The code is for the 03 metis range and is a very important service code from what the Product support guy at Ricoh seem to say that it was important to make sure all our 03 copiers were updated to the latest System and Engine firmware so it could be detected as a possible safety risk!
From the engine firmware notes:
1.22:01
Spec changes:
Firmware modification (Engine and System/Copy) so that the power line
(24V) is shut down when detecting the layer short-circuit and SC code
is displayed.
Note:
SC666 has been newly added. Depending on the sub code of SC666, the
action is different as follow.
SC666-01 :PCB:IOB:ENGINE
SC666-02/03 :PCB:IOB:TRANSPORT
SC666-00 :Both PCB:IOB:ENGINE and TRANSPORT
IMPORTANT: To apply the above changes, update this firmware together
with System/Copy.
System Copy Ver. 1.05 (D1775550) or newer for MP C2003/MP C2503
System Copy Ver. 2.03 (D1765550) or newer for MP C2003/MP C2503 with
Smart Operation Panel.
Not seen a tech bulletin about SC666 yet.
I'm a 'have not' slim. I don't have access to the TSC knowledge Buffet.
I was just going by the wording used by paulg. It sounded a little suspect to me, but maybe it is a little dark humour from the inside afterall.
I won't be needing firmware for those boxes for a few years. I'm strictly a refurb guy, and sell mostly machines 3-4 generations back.
