    MP C4503 sc682

We have an issue with a brand new C4503 out of box experiencing an SC 682-13. According the manual it says this code relates to "PCU: ID Chip Communication Error" and the sub code simply says "Device Error". Tech support was unable to guide us on this problem.
I have always had success in reaching out to my fellow techs here at COPYTECHNET.Com, so here I am seeking the wisdom of anyone that may have experienced this problem.

Here is a stupid question. You have removed the plastic mylars that are between the dev and drum units when you unboxed the machine?
    Press the GREEN button!!

We had same issue on one of those machines.

I split the drum and dev unit, inspected, couldn't find anything wrong and put it back together.
    Problem solved!

don't know what caused it, being an ID sensor I think I've either dislodged some toner off of it that's fallen in during shipping or the wire might of been pinched at the front of the PCDU.

either way the PCDU failed early (just) so get Ricoh to replace it as it's brand new.

Glad to see that on the mpc2003 the magic pull tab is back! No need to take pcd's out on setup!

We had a 2503 delivered a month ago and it had a little note from the factory saying they'd already set up the PCDU's. It was literally just plug and play... my dream.

Yes I had the same on a 4503 install, saves a little time having the PCDU's already setup
