    SC899

It seems that when you print a web page using Intenet Explorer 10/11, the machine can generate SC899. This affects the following machines :

    MP 2851-3351
    MP 2352-2852-3352
    MP 4001-5001
    MP 6002-7502-9002
    MP C2051-C2551
    MP C300-C400
    MP C3001-C3501
    MP C3003-C3503
    MP C4501-C5501
    MP C4503-C5503-C6003
    MP C6000-C7500
    MP C6501-C7501
    SP 4210
    SP 4310

Ricoh has supplied temporary PCL-firmware for this which can be downloaded by dealers. Definitive firmware will be released in a few months.

I spoke to a tech at Ricoh Australia about this and he showed me this document.

        RTN0287 SC899 when printing.pdf

Not sure if it is available worldwide or not.

Unfortunitly the model i have doesn't have the firmware available on request.

The information on using Raster Graphics instead of vector and selecting download as true type are old fixes for print speed problems. I had a church one time with an Aficio 1224c. They were trying to do their bulletins for Sunday service. They were using a desktop publishing software and printing a four page fold over to 11x17. It was taking over half an hour to spool the job to the printer. I changed the settings and it took 30 seconds to spool.

As for the firmware updates, the release dates are Ricoh guesses. None of those that should already been released have not. The AOR one I think are those they are BETA testing and if you contact them you can become a test site. All the others, they will write a temporary fix for any customer who can't wait for the official release.

Explain to your customers that almost all MFP manufactures have the problem and it has to do with moving text and abnormal graphic items on some web pages. IE 8 and 9 are the worst offenders. IE 7 and 10 do not have as much problems. Firefox and Chrome seem to be the least problematic. Most major customers that I have been to with the problem, the jobs that caused the error were individuals printing items for their own use, event tickets etc. Deleting the offending job and restarting the MFP usually clears the problem
