MP C305 yellow (colour) down center of page only

I have encountered two machines in the last little while where colours are not fully printed. Printing a test page in SP 2109 will reveal which colour is the offending one. In both cases it's the Yellow that prints down the center about 2/3 of the page and nothing on the sides (short edge feed orientation).
I have solved this problem both times by fully removing the right hand laser unit, disconnecting both the front wiring harness and the rear ribbon cable, then re-seating the ribbon cable on the laser unit, and assembling it back on the machine. Don't forget to close the ribbon cable 90 degree clamp. Otherwise, you will have trouble inserting the laser unit and the colours will be shifted.
Print another colour page in SP 2109 to verify the colour fully prints on the page. Do your chart test print to ensure everything is still aligned. If some blurriness occurs, try doing a colour alignment in maintenance mode in user tools.

Thank you for that information. As it turns out, the next day (today) I got a call back from a client that I "fixed" over a week ago stating that the issue has returned. I am ordering a new laser unit and will apply my "fix" to keep them up and running until it arrives.

The laser units are under the exit tray. Open the front door. There is one screw to remove at the left. Remove the exit tray. The right laser unit is the one to remove. One phillips screw (and spring) and two connectors (one in front and one at rear of laser unit - pull laser unit out to reach the connector)

Hi Bantams, have you got any paperwork from Ricoh saying there is a problem with the laser units? If so, can I have a copy 'cos Ricoh Oz haven't heard of any trouble with them and I'll need some evidence before they'll pull their head out of the sand and do something.
At least 50% of IT is a solution looking for a problem.

    Hi there!
Last week i was on a Ricoh-workshop. At a coffee-break thereŽs an instructor for the "ZEUS" & "GRIFFIN". I talked to him about the problem with the connectors of the ph-cables.
He said to me, that is the best way to rearange the connectors also on the board and to put a small piece of selfadhesive tape (Tesa, 3M, Scotch...) over the cable to fix at the board and the ph. On the next occasion iŽll try it, and then weŽll see what happens.
    Greetings...

Many thanks for that. Nice easy job for a change and cured problem. One other item if you can help as our guy is away for two weeks. Have to go to a Ricoh mpc2500 with colour issues. Originally had a fuser fault which was rebuilt with new thermistors, fuses, belt etc but apparently since this has been done the colors are all over the place (black print is fine) just cannot re-calibrate the colors. Any way of resetting to factory set maybe to align colors. Test page puts the color lines and blocks way out. Thanks again

Colours not aligning? Make sure that the laser glass is clean and any drums that need to be replace have bene. Do a forced line adjustment mode C, then mode A at least once. I usually do mode A twice. I would also do a Full Music Process Control afterwards, just in case the colours are patchy.
