An SC223 Issue on an MPC4000

Hello everyone. Looking to see if anyone has had an issue with a SC223 problem on a C4000. Problem popped up a little over a week ago. I went out and discovered the yellow LDB and other areas within the laser unit was contaminated with toner. I found the seals were in really bad shape so I cleaned up the inside of the laser unit, resealed it with a make shift seal in the badly affected areas, closed it up. It ran fine for a day or so but the next thing I know the SC 223 was back. This time I replaced the entire laser assembly and it was fine. That was on Wednesday. I just got another call for the same issue; same copier. I know the BICU is a candidate for the source of the problem but the issue goes away when I pull the laser, clean everything up and power it back up. Can anyone think of any areas I'm missing. This copier has been driving me crazy with one issue after the next.

    Thanks all,
    Jeff

Jeff, from what i heard from other guys you have to replace both the LDB and bicu at the same time to fix the issue.

The code is a laser sync start detect error, LD1, Yellow. Replace LDB, yellow sync detector board, LD1 or entire laser unit.

try to replace Sir new LD housing together with BICU nvram.
fix the customer first then fix the machine... its simple and makes life more easy.

You must also change the green earth wire that runs between the duplex and main frame, strong chance this will be split, this causes loads of problems due to the power pack in the duplex ptr not having a proper ground route. Its located in the black pvc harness on the lower rhs cover and duplex door housing.
    Please check this.

If you haven't checked the power from the outlet that machine is plugged into yet, you might want to try that.
Especially if the errors on that machine look like random nonsense.
