After removing the laser to clean a toner spill I now get a SC 220-1 that I can't clear. Replaced the laser flat cable and swap lasers (they are the same). Any thoughts?

I've had the same SC220 (-02) recently on a MPC305 which I couldn't clear.
Like you I tried swapping the laser unit around and replaced the ribbon cable.
But in the end it turned out to be faulty BICU.

I heard there are issues with the ribbon cables going into the laser units on this model. Haven't experienced it myself but making sure those ribbons are connected properly and that the laser units are seated correctly seems to be Ricoh's solution.
Hi there!
In the newest RTB (germany) they say: itīs not the ribboncable, the ph is out of position. Unscrew cover, loosen ph-screw, repositioning the ph & carefully reinstall cover.
When the colour-reg is NG, then do the sp2111-002 procedure (i really hate it!!!!!)
I had asimilar issue, after opening the ph you could see that the mirror (that can be "adjusted") was completly out of position. After rebuilding & adjusting () the box was running again.

Hi there!
If you swap them, and the ph has an electrical defect, youīll get another sc-code. Therefore is the possibility great that the bcu is gone.

Replace BICU : D1175112
Thanks for the advise. I was hoping to avoid replacing the BICU since this is a relatively new chargeable unit and this isn't the original problem he had. Touchy situation.
