    MPC255 Image Fading Out

Intermittent problem, image fades out to blank, or almost blank, towards the front of the machine, looks perfect towards the rear. Happens in full color or in B/W modes. Happens whether copying or printing. Then might clear up perfectly for a few pages, then WHAM, starts fading out again. Pulled and inspected all IU's, xfer roller, and xfer belt unit, no apparent issues with them. Held transport unit door closed tightly, no help. Suspect bad xfer belt unit, but don't have spare to test with.
    Thanks for any suggestions!

Make sure the PTR sits properly in its holder, it is held in place with two plastic clips, sometimes these break. You may need to replace the case, B223 6281, and possibly PTR, B238 6260. If you pull slightly on the PTR it should stay in place, if it moves replace the case. If the roller looks worn or has white patches, replace the roller.

Also, check that the door has only a slight movement to it.
