    RICOH MP CW2200SP B jam

I have a mp cw2200sp with a B jam after the roll runs out and machine will not reset the condition after resetting the door and it cycles like it is gonna reset and never resets.
It only happens after roll runs out and try to install a new roller the machine never gets to load paper message.
    Any ideas????
I put a piece of paper in A,B, and C sensors and the machine never tries to cycle the reset. But after removing the paper is does attempt to reset and cycle after door is opened and closed and then it kicks up a B jam.

I have an update the wd plotter did reset after I freed up the carriage assy. that was jammed on the cleaner insert.
But that being said the machine still kicks up a "B" jam when the roll runs out and forces me to pull the started new roll out and reset the doors and lever and let the machine cycle out for the few minutes then I start the lead edge of the new roll in and machine picks it up and starts to work until the roll is emptied again.
I cant imagine Ricoh designed the machine to kick a "b" jam every time the roll is emptied. It should just tell you to load another roll!!!!!!
All of the firmware is up to date as of February of 2015 just fyi.
Any suggestions or ideas of other people who have had similarities to what I have going on will be greatly appreciated.

I haven't worked on that model, so what follows might be baloney.
But it is based on other wide format machines that I have worked on, so hopefully there is something helpful here.
It sounds a little like the sensor underneath the paper roll can't detect the difference between the paper and the roll's core. If you haven't tried cleaning that sensor, you might try that.
Also, when you moved the print head, I hope you didn't break anything. When the print head is in its home position over the cleaning assembly, there is usually a tight seal between them to prevent the ink in the print head from drying out.
      Good luck!

I too have a similar problem on one of these machines that has the following issues:

        • When restarting the machine the carriage goes out far left and when it returns it can stop anywhere before the maintenance station and call out jam B (J041). If I restart the machine a couple of times this finally clears and and the machine starts working again.
        • People using this machine says that sometimes when it has been idle (power saving mode) for some time and the print from their computers it says there is a jam at B so they have to roll out the paper and load it again. Not sure what to do here.
        • Sometimes when a new roll of paper is loaded it gets rolled back out of the machine because it comes out 3-5 millimeters to far to the left in the registration so the paper is not detected properly. I have loosened the tray that has this problems and pushed it more to the right (as seen from the front) and tightened the screws the screw holes are really tight so I don't know if that really helps. But it seems to work.
        • The colors became faint quite often so the customer had to clean and flush the printheads very often. I change the maintenance service station assy and I have been told that this replacement solved this issue.

Regarding the B jam, I swapped the pre-registration sensor and it did not help. I also replaced the bypass sensor and now I'm waiting a couple of days to let the users use the machine until the end of the week before I call them and check the status.

        Any ideas on these issues?

        Regards.

Edit: I really don't like this machine. However, I don't usually work with wide format machines.

Re: RICOH MP CW2200SP B jam

          Hello.
first I apologize for my English.

This machine is printing good, but some problems are still around.

Error B pits (J041) is generated in case the machine is jammed paper. Under the print head. Or when the shaft on which head runs dry. This shaft is needed from time to time to lubricate. The machine then thinks he has stumbled into the paper. Lower head speed can be recognized machine decoder.

It is also important to maintain output section clean. Once the dust on the paper machine has a problem detecting the differences between black and white.

Hopefully my advice will help. And perhaps this is understandable.

            Thanks for the info!
Just to clarify, do you mean the long metal shaft that the carriage unit runs on from side to side of the machine? What kind of lubrication could I use? Grease of some kind or should I use some other lubrication fluid?

            Best regards

              Hi,
yes exactly the shaft I mean. Now I use grease on the bearings. Before it is necessary to clean the shaft.

Check the encoding strip for the carriage isn't damaged where it sits on the black runner, if it is the carriage won't know its horizontal position and the fun starts.

Try cleaning the DRESS sensor it is on the left side of the carriage, it will solve a lot of loading issues.
