scan to folder ( MP W7140)

There are four multfunction printers in a copy room of the construction company. Two MP W7140, one MPC 3003 and MP 3053. Scan to folder is not working to two MP W7140 (wide format) while it works fine in other printers. All printers are using same path using the IP address of the server and a public folder. According to the IT staff, scan to folder in a wide format printers was working fine for a year and it got a problem only two days ago? Do you think is a firmware issue?

Some of the wide format machines require a file format converter option installed. Might be a problem there.

    No option is needed.

Make a SMB scan and check system log (via WIM) under network.

Are you able to browse netwwork from control panel?

If you won't get any message under system log and you can't browse network from MFP control panel, ask IT what they have done in the past 3 days, updates etc.

    Possible couses:
username / password - bad or not having permission to write,
    UNC (network path),
    workgroup,
software issue - what system/copy, network and scanner version have you?
Do you scan to windows only?

Scan to folder problems often is due to old firmware not being compatible with the latest SMB encryption protocols. Try updating the firmware, at least the scanner firmware.

The user is using Windows Server 2008 and the public folder is created in their server. The folder path created is used by four machines. The user is wondering why suddenly these two wide format printer are unable to do scan to folder. I thought there is a problem on IP address of the two wide format printers so I used the IP address of other small machines. But still it cannot find the folder path or unable to browse the network. The user said the wide format printers are having no problem in scan to folder before and that scanner problem arises two days ago.

What is the software version? Copy/system, Network, Scanner.
When you do a scan, what is the system log entry? (log in via WIM, configuration - under network you see system log).

TB says something about SMB scanning.

    Problem solved!

Reset the system setting to its factory default and reformatted the HDD.
