    That would make sense, as the OS loads the copy feature first and then Fax/scan/print. So that could happen.

    The HDD committed suicide this morning - of course on installation at the customer

    This week can only get better....

    I can't seem to find anything relating to Java on this machine. . . .It does look like it had embedded software installed as it has the sticker and the button for it yet the button does nothing when pressed. . . .

    If someone removed the JAVA SD card without having stopped JAVA first, the controller board might be toast.

    This jogged my memory, that firmware actually wasn't the cure for my slow booting issue as I stated earlier, but rather that somehow no default function priority was selected The machine would eventually boot to copy mode, but when I went into system settings, the function was NOT selected. I don't know how it happened, or how to duplicate it.
    So have you physically checked that "copy mode" is the default setting? and even if it is, it couldn't hurt to try switching it over to something else, rebooting, and then switching back.
