    Question Aficio 2016 & Network TWAIN scanning-->SC120

    Hello experts!

As you see, this is my first post in this forum. I'm "old school tech" working with copiers since 1980, so maby these nowadays options (scanning, printing etc.) are too much for oldish .
I'm not the Ricoh specialist, so i hope i find one from here.
    Here is my problem:

Network twain scanning from doc.glass gives error SC120, but only from doc.glass. Scanning from doc.feeder or copying from doc.feeder/doc.glass works great. I have been trying scanning with Photosop and Office Document Scanning. The twain driver is correct, do i need something
else, what i do wrong? . Any ideas?

    Thanks beforehand!

There is no problem with your driver or network, you´ve got a problem with your machine: scanner home position sensor error.
We can all Win, but at the end we all loose. Save the greyhound

There most be another variable, SC120 is not a TWAIN code, as IMIND says it is a machine code. Is the problem intermittent?

You never realize how cheap a professional is until after you let an amateur do it.

    Hi

The problem is not intermittent, it happens everytime when i try scan from doc.glass. The scanner starts movin and after 2 to 3 centimeters it comes
back and then --> sc120. And yes, i know it's not a twain code! It only appears when i use twain scanning.

Are you pressing down on the glass, or are you copying a book from the glass?

    Nope, that's not the reason!

    Hey,

So if i understand, you can take copies from the glass plate and doc.feeder, but if you want to scan with a twain driver, you get the sc120?
It's important to know if it is both with scanning or copying from feeder or plate, while the scanner is standing still from feeder, and is moving while scanning from glass plate.

otherwise, here are Ricoh's possible causes:

    • Scanner home position sensor
    defective
    • Scanner drive motor defective
    • Scanner home position sensor
    connector defective
    • Scanner drive motor connector
    defective
    • BICU board defective

Check all operations of the scanner, even with turning off/on the machine.
Updating firmware could even be a solution.

    Hope you find something,
    Froota

Thanks, this is what i want to hear! I didn't mention that, i only hope someone put forward that.
And yes, you understand justright, i get the error only when using twain scanning from plate glass.
Everything else u mentio is exact that i know, thanks anyway!

I have been updatet several of Kyocera firmwares, but i have not any ideas how to do that with Ricoh, maby i not even want to know!

Its not too hard. 1st you need the firmware
2nd (if its an mfp) you need an SD card.Load the firmware onto the card and then use the card to update the machine.
