    Cool Aficio 2022 firmware

I have been having a lot of problems as of late regarding the firmware on these creatures. I get SC-998, quite a bit. I have reflashed the firmware about a million times, maybe more. It works for a bit, and then it dosn't. I even paid the oh so almighty Ricoh Boys to come handle the situation, they took my $200.00 and the problem was back in 2 days.

I just need to know if this is a regular problem with these copiers, or do I just need better firmware (different version).

Also while I have you all here, what about SC-990's? Supposedly it is a communication to the BICU board, They keep saying check connections, I turn it of, look at the connections, turn it back on and it works. Any ideas?

    Thanks and Peace

Check to see if the Ram Dimm is correctly installed, take it out and reseat it ( SC998), Is your Drum in its life time, it throughts this (SC990). What is your firmware versions, print SMC and post the versions.( I´ve been on tessa and the firmware are controller 1.05 2006, lcdc 1.08 2003, GW 1.05 2006), nothing new.
It could also be to much grass, hehe, only joking.

    Sweet

Too much Pot? Isn't that like too much money, or a girl too pretty, or a car too fast? Not possible my friend. Not a chance.

I'll post the firmware version in a bit, but the drum and blade you figure, hard to imagine they'd wig out like that. I'll try anything though and keep you posted,

    Peace

    Geez,I dunno

Been a bit, But the 998 seems to have been a drum unit issue. If it is a memory issue, or hard drive, try unplugging the hard drive as a test. If that's not it, I'll get back to you here tomorrow.

    Peace

yep, 35\45's are the same way, an older drum will cause arcing which will cause the machine to throw random codes.

You never realize how cheap a professional is until after you let an amateur do it.

    arching?!?
it happened to me only when i turn on machine,
    before moving drum.
so it can be something else.
    i did firmware.
After i remove NIC, code disappears, otherwise not.
ok i will try to format HD, put on pc and see how is going.

    tks

    still sc998

    sc988

sometime after turning on, it pops up sc998, and will not gone until i do #5-801-11, or remove nic . contact should be ok, because i put screw insted plastic holder to press nic to board.
same with another board, with difrent hd and ram and same nic and printscan chip.

    any suggestions?

    998 B Application start error
After power on the application does not
start within 60 s. (All applications
    neither start nor end normally.)
    Software defective

An option required by the application

(RAM, DIMM, board) is not installed

hmm.... our team had encounter these problems and so far these are the only thing after we exchange, solved the problem :

Drum unit, print/scanner ROM chip, hard disk, controller chip (the chips which is black and located at controller board) and/or controller board.

Usually we just change one of these and it works.

Oh yeah, regarding the chip, there is a possibility that the battery in the chip had damaged or ran out.

this works for aficio 1045 though, not sure if an be applied to aficio 2022

    hopefully it helps!
