Di you check the DNS to make sure it is valid? Use the ping command to verify the machine can connect to it.

Guys Gmail actually uses port 587 for smtp, I have setup 5 to 10 of these and it works like a charm, just make sure smtp authentifcation is turned on. this may help as well, this is the outlook setup for gmail, even though its a little different it gives all of the pertinent info.

mmru4real is correct Gmail is on port 587. I doubled checked it via a telnet session.

    Thanks for the correction.

I've ping'ed the DNS, I get a reply. I've attached a screenshot of my config page. This problem is driving me nuts!

Also changed to port 587 but still same error.

    #[dcs_nas(20)]08/11/19 17:26:28 SMTPC: received error code. [530] (202) ERR:

    SSL

Like I said on my other post Ricoh machines DO NOT support SSL(STARTTLS). I used telnet to connect to smtp.gmail.com on port 587 and I got a message telling me that I must use STARTTLS. You can create a free email account with AOL and send email through that.

    Problem solved!!!

    Hey everyone,
Thanks for all the help and input. Finally works. Ended up using the ISP provided email address, switched of authentication and voila, it started working.

So i guess any external webmail using SSL will not work with Ricoh machines. Lesson learnt after a painful few days.

I'd be interested to know in detail how you are accomplishing this, as it is VERY true that Ricoh's machines do not support SMTP with SSL. I've tried every possible combination trying to work around this with no luck.

    Regards

Google's website says SMTP is available on Port 465 or 587, so you might try both.

Yep, Have tried both. As well as the other suggestions you recommended to no avail. (Lucky for me, I have a machine in my shop that I have been messing with along with a gmail account I set up.)

Haven't quite given up yet, but getting close, lol!
