Ricoh Aficio 2035e adf jams

Hi Guys,
I have a problem with a ricoh aficio 2035e that continually stops when attempting to use the adf and reports a 'j006 document misfeed' error.
I have checked the document path and it seems alright, the rollers all seem to be turning (the pick rollers and the big rollers in the turn-around part of the adf).
The document page gets to the lower pinch rollers in the turn-around and is about 30mm from starting to exit the adf. It always stops in the same place.
I am thinking it may be a sensor problem - any ideas?
If it seems like I don't know much - I don't!
I cannot make head nor tail of the manual that I've got! it has no sort of flow charts for what to check - I also cannot work out how to get into the 'service program mode'.

If the paper stops in exactly the same place to the millimetre, you have a sensor problem. If it moves about a bit you have a clutch problem. Also worth looking at is the big white drive gear on the front of the turn around rollers. Its a push fit on the shaft and after a while it starts to spin.
Clear-1-0-7-stop gets you into service mode but dont play with anything you dont understand.
Dont worry about the service manual being uninteligable, I've been trying to de-code them for the last 20 years and still get confused!

Clean the photoreflector in the transport unit.
It is sunken in and will cause fake jams when full of paper dust.

Thanks for the reply - I do lean towards the sensor theory, I've been looking in the service manual for some kind of description of the sensor locations but there doesn't seem to be any reference to the ARDF at all. Are we talking about the row of sensors just up under the ARDF cover that opens (where all the actuators hang down) if so I might try swapping one from the outside to the inside and try feeding in a portrait page so as to use less of the sensors. Any ideas as to what the ARDF number is or where to get the book?

I will suggest before replacing parts strip your DF nicely get hold of a hand held anti-static blower and clean the dust out espacially the sensors strip out clutch, bushings,1way bearings,rollers and shafts and clean and lubricate.If you can use some Mr Mckenic yellow and green cans,these things works wonders.Always clean thoroughly first before replacing parts.Goodluck and have fun if you can.

As well as puff out all the sensors.

Worth checking all the mylars but as it sounds like its an ongoing issue.

Have you put your finger on the big rollers and then turned the blue knob on the near side. Sometimes this flats out inside and stops turning.
But it does sound like it has gone past them.

Full marks to Paulg,
It turned out to be the big white gear (that I am still trying to get the part no for!)that drives the big rollers in the turn-around had been slipping on the shaft, I have super-glued it as a temp. fix.
