MPC2500 - Printing will start after warm up

    Machine has the latest firmware,
Machines has twice done this on Sunday & reported Monday
Today with machine on & showing message, we opened side door, removed fuser, refitted fuser & closed door. Machine proceeded to print properly.

    Questions...
    What is the fix?
How can we turn off the power saving completely as we suspect the error is related.

    Thanks

Did you update ALL the firmware? These machines will do all kinds of strange things if you only update some of the firmware.

    My questions for you are:
How long does the machine stay in the warm up mode?
Is the engine cycling at this time?
Does it finally code out with a SC54x code?
Can you reset it by opening ANY cover like the front door?
Is the machine on a surge protector?

It is possible that since re-seating the fuser unit returned it to normal operation, you may have a flaky thermister or a connection problem at the fuser to machine connector (this would most likely result in an SC).

Power issues will also cause the machine to do strange things.

Also slight possiblilty that there is an issue with the HDD. I've seen a few HDDs cause MFP's to "stall" without throwing a code.

That's all I've got right now. Hope it helps.

Relax! This firmware injection won't hurt...but it will take 45 minutes.

    KopyKat,
    *fault is intermittent, 7-10days....
    *all firmware has been done
*once in warmup mode, it stays there indefinately until machine is power off/on (previous fix) OR main door opened, fuser reseated (done once on last visit)
*engine not cycling, but cooling fans running
*no SC code nor any history of SC code
*we have formatted the hard drive on a previous visit via service mode
    *not on a surge protector

    Thanks

We had this problem on 2 machines, Ricoh has since redesigned the electrical connector on the fuser, it now sits farther out. Try shimming the electrical connector on the fuser so that it sticks out farther and seats farther into the machine.

I've had to do the same thing on several of these out in the field....

Not yet tried, machine is a fair distance away, also it will take 1-3 weeks to confirm that it is fixed as its very intermittant.

    UPDATE!

Fitted two washers to each side of the connector on the fuser unit & the machine has not faulted since.

    Thanks for your replies.
