Ricoh Aficio 700 Doesn't stop adding toner.

This unit is torturing me. It does not stop adding toner and the add toner light will not go away. It keeps adding and adding toner without need.
We have replaced the toner density sensor (AW230019), toner end sensor, as well as the toner supply clutch (AX200093) and this did not fix the problem. Could this be a main board issue?

    Please help; thank you.

The clutches on the toner supply go on these beasties, but that usually gives faint copies I think.

    Are the solids OK?

SP mode 2223 reading (TD sensor)?

    VSG / VSP ?

Is the toner bottle turning? When you swing out the Toner bottle holder, is there toner in the hole at the front of the hopper?

Look at the shaft of the toner bottle drive motor on this unit.

The Worm gear on the bottle drive motor can move along the shaft. It will not come off completely but will not drive the bottle. The worm gear will be pressed against the side of the toner hopper unit. I suspect this is the problem. You should still hear the motor turning but they can fail.

If the bell shaped part at the front of the DV is not full of toner, the machine will behave as though it is out of toner.

That sensor on the side of it is a pressure sensor and you can take it loose and actuate it by presssing it with your thumb and finger.

You will have to manually fill that with toner and believe me you will need to be careful. Also be prepared to vacuum if it gets away from you.

What if the hokey pokey IS what it's all about?

..... Also, Silly question, but is the toner shutter lever moving the shutter properly to allow toner into the hopper?

Unscrew the toner end sensor (Leave it connected) and cheat the door switches, if the bottle turns, touch the toner end sensor, if the bottle stops the problem must be somewhere in the bottle holder area.

Is the toner hopper on top of the development unit full of toner or empty?
I don't believe in suicide, but if you try it, it might cheer me up.

The toner hopper on top of the development unit is not completly full of toner, because the toner keeps dumping into the developer unit.

    !!!!!
If you open the door and look at the drum is it covered in toner? (I suspect yes)

Are you getting a reading from SP2223? probably near 1.0?

If the answer is yes to both of the above you will have to try another dev! It might be worth disconnecting the toner supply clutch before setting up with 2-801 just in case the machine tries to add toner during setup.

    Also clean the I.D sensor.

Once you establish that the TD sensor is giving the correct output you can then check that SP2210 is set to 10 (I.D check interval) run 11 WHITE copies and check SP3-103 (VSP / VSG) If these are at 0.5v and 4.0v you should be ok to reconnect the clutch.

    Just re read your post...

are you SURE the machine is adding toner and not just cycling TRYING to add toner to the hopper?

If the add toner light is on the toner end sensor IS working.
As i said earlier, this sounds like toner is not leaving the bottle holder assy, either because the shutter is closed or the bottle is not turning due to a toner bottle motor / gear malfunction!

If the drum area is clean and TD / VSG / VSP are ok this only confirms the above.

    Aficio 700

Replace the bottle holder A293 3206 -Toner Bottle Holder Ass’y. It will fix your problem. I'll suggest you to replace the developer when you will replace the bottle holder.
