Mpc 3500 (b222) fuser

We have ordered some MPC 3500 units and I am preparing a stock list for preventive maintenence components. On this model, what is the normal procedure for the fuser? Do you guys replace the fuser as a unit or rebuild them? Also, I need to know if there is an acceptable lower cost substitute for the required Barrierta S552R grease. Thanks for any input.

We replace the whole thing and (theoretically) rebuild them in the shop.

I like the "theoretically" part. After looking at the diassembly procedure I will probably do the same.

We also keep a rebuild unit. You can get most of the parts on the PM list for around 150 bones.

I've tried a lot of other greases, and like the Barrierta best. I think the price came down a little on it. Just be sparing and it goes a long way.

I have tried a lot of other heat lubes and altho Barrietta is expensive, it really works well. Especially on those rollers that don't have an arbor to dissipate the heat, just one long sleeve.

We rebuild the units in the field, they take a while first time but once practiced we can do a rebuild in about half an hour but I suggest replacing the fuser belt and sponge hot roller as a pair. We tend to stock the hot roller,fuser belt,pressure roller,oil supply roller and the belt tension bushes.
Also a set of thermistors for good measure.

Thanks for the input, guys. Now my only problem is how to talk the boss into springing 195 clams for the grease.(cost at Precision Roller). I will end up using another Hi-temp grease I imagine.

Why rebuild them when you can order the printer verson of the machine same fuser only costs £160.00 in uk same as the parts then just swop over the connector to get it to work or move one of the wirespart no 402719

We have used the printer model fusers also, they need minor connector mod's to work properly. They don't seem to last quite as long either.

You can substitute brake grease for barrietts. It smells a little in the beginning, but does work ok. But, I agree with most, barrietta goes along way if you use it sparingly.

We rebuild the fusers as well. Its not that bad. after you do one or two, it can be done quickly. I think they are about $600 for a whole one. As a service manager, its a bit difficult to justify to the boss!
