| Given what a major pain it is to rebuild these fusers, I don't blame you for trying to stretch it a bit, but if things are worn enough to start jamming then copy quality issues aren't far behind.
What you're likely to find is either the hot roller or pressure roller has gotten extra spongy and may have even started to crumble around the edges. Instead of solid silicone rubber, these rollers are silicone foam. They don't hold up as well if you try to push them over their PM copies, or overcook them in the machine too long. That's part of Ricoh "turning up the green" on these machines - they heat up faster and give a wider nip band so they can use lower fuser temps. They also don't require as much energy to drive, and use less rubber to manufacture. |
