Thanks guys/gal.

I offered them a much, much better designed Minolta Di-351 for a price slightly less than the quoted repair costs (I wanted myself to get rid of that Ricoh crap). They had the Minolta one day for testing but I had to pick it up again because "That Minolta is much slower than our Ricoh". WTF? BOTH machines are 35 copies/minute.

Still don't want to loose them, too many equipment, printers, copiers, faxes they have to service.

Probably the 1st copy speed - Ricoh can't be beat on the single copy speed of this machine because of the extremely short paper path.

Look if you can find a 2035e or newer, then you have a nice machine with powerfull scanning option. If the machine runs dirty beacause the machine has freaked out, dirty id sensor can cause this, is the dev initilized correctley?. Iīve heard that the machine can rotate the toner hopper much more than it should be if it freaks out. The resault can be broken mylars in the toner supply unit, the machine will be dirty and it may say low toner sometimes. You have to really take all the steps when you do pm, clean as much as you can. I use my finger on the id sensor instead of vaccum cleaner, afraid of esd. Sometimes if I find loads of toner in the toner hopper supply unit, then I change the whole unit. If you have to much toner around the drum, it should be something strange around the devbox. Td sensor, somewhat dirty contact so the init would go rong? I have seen too much toner in the devbox on bigger machines after a developer change, this happened beacause I missed one step in the service manual.

Don't go near any Ricoh 35/45 machines - they are all crap - either go slower or faster

WHOA!!!

Don't forget that the AF2045 was the first machine to start showing signs of blacking up the Mag Roller!! (depending on the machine) and we all know how bad the latest models are!!

I still maintain that they started adding more wax to the toner with the Af2045 to improve the fusing and gradually increased the percentage until it caused major problems with the Mag Roller in the MP4000!

PREDICTION!

The next "new" model will have the modified Dev Unit which was supplied for a short time as a fix for the MP4000 (The larger filters would improve the air flow / cooling) But with the "A" type toner which I think has just been "de-waxed" to prevent melting onto the Mag Roller.... Let's wait and see!
