    gestetner Dsc232 HDD fault

Hi, I have the above copier ( same as Ricoh Aficio 1232C) that has a HDD fault SC863. I have removed the HDD and tested it with software and sure enough its had it. Can i just rplace it with a similar new HDD or does it have to be formatted and or have software on it first. I would copy the old drive but i think its past that. many thanks

Bulletin#62 the most recent Bulletin for this model. (Dec 07)

    Do not install an 80GB
HDD on this model. If you
    do, image problems may
    occur or the machine
    may stall. The newest
    HDD (P/N - B2475238)
    f
    unctions as a 40 GB
    HDD, even though the
    actual capacity is 80GB.

As for installing Bigger.. Not sure you can. You can on many machines, but this is an older one.

I'm surprised you can still get a 40Gb drive! I haven't tried fitting a larger one on a 2232c or 3235c style machine due to the warning but I don't see why you can't as you can on all the other machines.
