You sorta had to figure you were going to get a least a little good natured ribbing.
This almost sounds like a case of the tail wagging the dog. How about going back to your customer and finding out just exactly what they are trying to accomplish. Then YOU (with your superior knowledge of how things work) can figure out how to make it happen. Rather than THEM (with their vague understanding of how things work) trying to design the process.
According to my superiori mind , Lanfax is a possible solution, but is not automatic and also not working outside LAN, btw I will speak clear to my customer and try to let them redesign their processes.
