This Ricoh Aficio 1013f has the fax option and I was wondering if the machine has to stay in the fax mode to receive faxes? Yesterday the phone did ring a couple of times but wouldn't receive the faxes until we switched it over to the fax mode. We do have people call our fax line, and it could just be coincidental that it happened this way.

it shouldn't have to be in fax mode to receive. it does have to be in auto receive to answer by itself.

Is there a dedicated fax line or is a phone switch being used? Although it should not make a difference, I've had phone switches act weird with some of the Ricoh boxes.

Press the F2 key to change the reception mode. To answer on the first ring, select OK for Auto receive; to answer after multiple rings, select OK for Auto Select; To never answer, select Manual recieve and press OK.
