If all else fails, the cover over the interchange unit can be removed to observe the operation of the components in all its glory. At this point, the whole assembly can be lifted out.

The downside is you have to remove the scanner bed first. Not bad, just a bit awkward.

Check the jam code on the SMC. If code 14, try the sensor in the Black unit at the top of the Right hand door which sits above the fuser when closed ((Fuser exit sensor). There was a mod for this sensor on the AF1035. I believe the modifed ones had a red exterior.

If it has not been modified in the past, is that something that if I just ordered a new one I would get the modified one or would there be a special part number from a bulletin.

I have to agree with the sticky cushion theory. Usually that occurs early in the morning. It is called "morning sickness". I would also make sure that you have the correct springs on the solenoids. I have seen "makeshift" springs cause this problem too.

The jam code is "14", but by slightly bending the bracket, the sensor problem can usually be resolved. The reflectivity of the sensor changes that way. I think you bend it down slightly. You want to make it more square to the paper.

What sort of state is the pressure roller in? They are always a jamming cause that is easily missed.

1035 paper jam

you could take the bridge unit away from the machine (only to chek if the the problem is with the copier or the bridge),the 1035 is an old machine and sometimes the paper exit sensor fails, the solenoids has a little piece of rubber and sometimes becomes "sticky" and the solenoid doesn t work well, try with these and dont laugh bout my english(i would like to see you writing in spanish)

Thanks to all. I am embarrassed to say what it was but since you all offered help, you have a right to know. It was the paper tray. The select dial was correct but something else must have been stuck. I was trying to get a report to print, and saw it was sideways on the paper.DUH HUH! If I would have noticed that on the first visitI would have clued in, problem was, I was using the out of order sign as a test copy and not paying any attention to it. Same thing used to happen on the Di250's. I slammed the drawer and the correct size reset. Now I can PM the machine. Thanks again for the help.
