Ricoh Aficio MP C2500 Scanner issue

I can not seem to get the Ricoh to see the pc's in the network inorder to scan to them. One Pc is running vista Home Edition and the other is running Windows XP Media edition. Both pc's recognize the printer and can print to it. The printer is connected to a Netgear 5 port router using TCP/IP. One of the computers is a laptop connecting wireless and the other is a desktop connected via ethernet to the router. Can anyone help me? I am trying to use SMB off the scanner.

hello friend!

Are you using scan to folder?Have you tried use the computer name instead of ip address in the path.Have you checked the shared folder permissions? It should be in full control. What about the anti-virus?You should turn it off 'coz it blocks the scanning. Also, check whether these computers and the printer are in the same domain.

No go

I have tried the computer name and the IP address neither one seems to work. I have firewall off, I have the folder shared with full control. I do not have a network just the pc's going to the router. I think it is on the pc side but I don't know what. The error message when I try browse after entering the path with just the computer name says can not find the path please check the settings and if I click the test connection button it says can not connect to the pc has failed.

Forgot

We don't have a network per say they are in the same workgroup mshome? This customer doesn't have alot of money so everything has been pieced together. This did work before on (3) machines all running windows XP but all (3) machines had to be replaced and the last one just died this week. So hence my problem

Set the IP range in access control in Web Image Monitor.
Give the workgroup a name other than mshome and plug it into all the workstations and copier.

Send a message via MSN to leo34staffs
Turn off UAC in vista.

Vista Home Premium, Vista Business, Vista Ultimate are the only versions that will allow SMB scanning. Already noted on the TSC site.

XP MCE is just XP Home with some extra bits added.

In the start RUN command on th XP box put in \\<pc name here> and press enter. You should come up with a window showing the shared item on this PC. you should see your scan destination folder if you shared it.
Copy the path in the ADDRESS line. ( If you dont see the address line, set up the PC to show it.)
In WIM (web image monitor) in the address book open the entry for the PC you are targeting. paste in the PATH you copied into the path at the bottom. Go up to folder authentication. Put an ' a ' in the names feild, and make sure the password is blank ( empty, nothing, nada ). Save this entry.
Test to see if it will scan. If not, try the IP address instead of the PC name.

Once the XP box works. Make a NEW folder for the VISTA box and make the VISTA PC see that folder. Since you can't usually save credentials in Vista Home, you not be able to make it a mapped drive letter w/o having to enter the autorization to the XP box after ever reboot.

This thread is another scan-to-folder issue that got solved, perhaps you could take some of the ideas from there:
http://www.copytechnet.com/forums/ri...ta-home-3.html

Also the Windows firewall is quite the troublemaker, even with it turned off it could be blocking. The only way to be really sure it's not blocking is to uncheck the connection from the firewall included list (in XP don't know about Vista).

Just a tip: When setting up shared folders, try accessing the folder from another computer. If you can access it, try and create a folder or a file to see if you have the permissions set correctly. That way you narrow it down a bit. If you can access the first computers shared folder from the second computer and create a file in the folder, everything is OK with permissions. Next manually browse the network from the copier and see if you can reach the shared folder, if not then your network settings are incorrect in the copier. That's usually the case
