    Exclamation MPC3500/4500 dev units

Does anyone know an alternative to buying extremely expensive colour dev units for the MPC3500/4500 range? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Dev units? You mean the PCU unit? The MPC3500 PCU's split in half, you can just order the drum side and the dev side. Black is B223 2042, colours are all B223 2027. Don't try and put non-OEM parts in these things, you'll regret it.

Thanks for the reply. I do mean dev unit. We use B223 2042 drum units for black and colour which saves a lot but plan to fit colour devs at 160K and then colour dev units at 320k. The dev unit costs £385.

We just replace the developer. B230 9640, 9660, 9670, 9680. I've run dev units well over half a million and never had a problem with them.

No kidding?! Half a million?? PM cycle is 160k, if you can go 500k that's what I call rock n roll... thanks for that!

Btw TonerMunkeh, you sure you're up to your nuts in toner, and that you're nuts aren't made of toner..?
    Peace sells, but who's buying?

According to the PM table in the service manual, you need to:

Replace K dev unit at 320k
Replace KCMY drum units at 80k
    Replace KCMY DEVELOPER at 160k
Replace KCMY dev. unit entrance mylar at 80k

There is an addition futher in:

*1: The color development units are considered EM parts because the actual life time of the color development units depends on the usage of color ratio.

So no, you don't have to replace the colour dev units at life, only on failure.

    What do you mean expensive?

    Colour dev is about £20

The dev unit including dev is only about £65
