MP161 MFP - Web image monitor

Having difficulty logging into web image monitor.
The username seems to have been changed to "administrator" from the default "admin", and the password must have been changed too.
I logged in under "supervisor", but changing the "administrator" password doesn't take.
Question: should I also be able to change the username here? because the current username (administrator) cannot be changed. I do have the option to change the password, but like I said, it makes no difference when trying to login again.
Strangely, I can change the "supervisor" password.
I've tried SP5-801 (all clear)
There seems to be some security setting made on the machine that I can't figure out, that may be causing this.
Under user tools/System settings/Administrator, when I select "network security level", it says "Privileges are required to use this feature". Is there an SP to reset the security privileges that may help me here?
Thanks in advance.

You must login as 'supervisor' with a blank password, here you can change any admin, user, file manager password. I dont want to sound smart but the full explanation is in the security reference in the manual

Thanks, but I think you missed this line in my post:
"I logged in under "supervisor", but changing the "administrator" password doesn't take."

So "yes" , I am logging in that way, and the change doesn't get saved.....that's what I'm asking.

If it doesn't take and you've done a MEMORY Clear. Then I'm thinking Flaky NVRAM?
