Was called out for misfeeding in the upper paper tray. Noticed that the paper feed tire was not turning, however from the backside of the copier was able to tell that the upper paper feed clutch was working.Upon pulling the upper paper feed clutch out I discovered that the paper feed shaft was broken. Has anyone ever seen this before? What could be the possible causes for this to happen? I'm going to change the shaft and don't want it to happen again. Could have just been a fluke? Any help appreciated, thank you.
Ive never seen it before, but I can imagine it happening if a customer is a little rough removing a jam. Especially if the sep is not working and you get a wad of paper in there. Nope never seen it, lucky you

Yep, it wears out right by the bushing then breaks, itīs happend on this side of the pond and more than once. I personally think its caused by stress from the clutch.
