MPC4500 fuser exit sensor Jam

Thought I might share a fix for a bit of a hair puller I had on a MP C4500.

Originally got a call out to the machine because the ADF was jamming (blue-tac in the paper path, not related but always good fun) while taking down my usual readings I noticed there were a lot of paper jams at the fuser exit sensor. Thought it may have been a bad fuser but i had only rebuilt it a week before.

Chucked a few copies at the machine and I got an intermittent jam, paper was stopping just below the fuser every now and then. I swapped in a new exit sensor, still getting the jam.

Turned out to be the paper was slightly buckling after the registration roller enough to miss the fuser entrance and curling towards the paper transfer roller itself. To fix I opened up the fuser entrance guide to its widest extent, put 350 copies through the machine didn’t miss a beat.

Hope this helps someone.

(naturally now that I have posted this I expect the machine to start jamming again)

Mpc4500 jams

Had a very similar fault on a mpc3500 but it was the transfer roller causing the paper to buckle before the fuser entry intermittently.

In fairness the roller was over life but they do run way over life.

Just thought I'd mention it if you need to go back?!.

cheers

try the enter sensor

try to replace the enter sensor, the one is located right above the transfer unit. good luck.
