LD Units 350/450
1). Are these two copiers LD Units the same, and can they be used in either machine regardless?
2). Can they be the cause of light copies?
The reason I ask about them being the cause of the light copies is that we were working on one of these copiers at our office and it was causing slight overtoning but eventhough the copies were overtoned slightly they were still light. So we put a different drum unit and drum into the copier and the haze went away but the copies were still light. This copier was giving us 350 error codes so we decided to put everything in that machine into another copier we had in the office. Both were 450e copiers. Once we had put everything in the new machine and turned it on the copier coded out with a 322 error code. We didn't however change the LD unit initially. So we swapped out LD's and the copier started working however the copies were still light. We tryed a different transfer unit but it didn't do anything to make the copies better. Only thing we weren't able to change was the developing unit, however that and the LD unit are the only two similar parts from both copiers. So can the LD unit cause light copies or is my problem likely to be in my developing unit? Any help appreciated, thank you.

According to the parts list they are the same LD unit. As far as light copies, if the laser shield glass is coated with toner, or if the lenses inside the LD unit are coated with toner, light copies or light areas on the copies will result. You may want to try a dev change before anything else.
