Question: Does it ever report a jam? Is the paper lift table operation normal? How many clicks are on the adf rollers and belt?

Turn off the ADF Dust check in SP mode and see if that helps
No trees were killed to bring you this message, however, a large number of electrons may have been inconvenienced.

I'm not sure about the newer models but in the older (60-75 cpm) models, flat spots on the pressure roller will throw off the timing of the adf. This was due to the paper flopping as it came out of the fuser, causing the exit sensor to bounce (would not throw a jam code). Tech support confirmed that that the timing of the adf is tied into the paper exit timing. All I know is the few times I've had this issue, replacing the pressure roll corrected it.
Again, I haven't seen this problem in quite awhile, so it may not even be an issue here.
