    AF2090 copy quality issue

    Hi Guys

I have a 2090 that is making light copies but also have background.

Firstly. The stupid operator went and threw in af1055 toner in the 2090s bottle. Not the sharpest tool in the shed. Especially since he had 2090 toner in his cupboard.

I have since drained the toner from the toner tank, pipes, pumps and hopper. Replace the dev. First copy is beautiful with maybe just a slight background. Vsg was 4.3v and Vsp 0.30. TD was 2.50. Started to run the machine and after a few hundred copies, the quality started to fade. After say 1000 copies the copies where light and had a definite background. Vsg and Vsp were no 0.0 and the TD was 3.85.

The drum in the machine is pretty new aswell as the charge and grid. The dev unit was pretty old, so thinking that the TD sensor might be faulty, i decided to replaced the complete dev unit. Did a engine memory clear. And replaced the dev. again.

The copies now looked fine but after a 1000 copies or so it was again light with background.

I have now ordered a new drum potential sensor.

    Any ideas?

I saw you mentioned you drained the toner from the system did you do toner bank setup once the dev was replaced?

    Are you referring to this?

    4. Execute SP5804 070 to energize the toner bank motor.
    5. Execute SP5804 068, 069 to energize the toner bottle motors for 5 to 6
    seconds.
    6. Execute SP5804 071 to energize the toner supply coil clutch.
    7. About 50 to 60 seconds later, toner is supplied to the toner supply cylinder.
Make sure that toner is properly supplied to the cylinder.
    8. Turn off the toner supply coil clutch and then the toner bank motor

No but toner is filling the toner supply cylinder. And the toner hopper is also full of toner.

VSP and VSG seem ok.How many copies on the machine?Have seen the toner add clutch go weak on this before.Since you cleaned the hopper and tank i would think you got all the wrong toner out.Would seem you have a problem with toner keeping up with what they are running. Not a bad idea to replace the TD sensor though.

Ok. Went to the customer again today.

Be saying i cleaned the toner bank i did the following:

Switch on the machine and execute SP2226 to discharge toner from the toner bank.

So today i started from scratch and cleaned out all the toner from the machine. From the toner bank up the spiral, the little reservoir, all the toner pipes, the hopper, the dev, the cleaning unit and the recycle tank. As clean as the day she was born.

Did all the settings and ran 2000 copies. Vsg 4.12 and vsp 0.15
    The TD 1.00

The copies looks beautiful, just a bit worried about the TD reading being that low. Will phone the customer tomorrow again and see how she behaved.

The TD is low.Should be about 2.5.Do you have a TD sensor?Might want to go ahead and replace it just in case.

Wow such a hard time you been through.... i suggest after dumping all toner in the machine...and replacing new developer powder execute sp 2801 then execute the toner bank set up... put the red gear on the development drive then sp 2207-2 after its complete check the sp 5803-5 second to the last bit should be 1 after that put back the white gear, then sp 2962 for the auto process... i assume that you use the B070 3102 Dev tank... with the proper grounding scheme... Good Luck Sir.
fix the customer first then fix the machine... its simple and makes life more easy.
