On page two of the parts manual I am filing down the two outer ramps of the main body as shown below number 21 and 23. When I removed the cover (one screw on side of the machine) I was able to observe the paper exiting the main body curling and catching on the raised outer ramps. I hope this helps.

I have fixed this by dropping the fuser temp 20 degrees. It hasn't caused any other issues like poor fusing. The hotline just gave the standard cop out "they need better paper".

On page two of the parts manual you will see the main body, there are about 16 ramps that guide the paper. The outer two are raised higher. If you remove the cover below the scanner and to the right of the bridge unit (one screw on the side of the machine) you can watch the paper as it enters the bridge unit. On the two machines I had this problem with I could see the paper catching on these two raised ramps. These ramps are located below numbers 21 and 23 in the diagram. I hope this helps.

I fitted 2 this morning - they go on the 2 exit rollers on the copier itself, not the bridge unit. Make sure you fit them round the right way - they just clip in place.

Aside from the bridge unit guides, I have had one repeat offender which the paper was actually coming out of the interchange unit dog-eared, even single sided. The only thing that fixed it was removal of the interchange unit, and smoothing out the paper path through the unit with scotch-brite, particularly the top half of the interchange unit paper path. It was rough enough inside to catch the paper as it came through. Especially since paper curl was extreme.

well i've been back today and the 2 guides are missing so i've ordered them and i also checked another 4000 that was doing the same and that had the guides missing so i've ordered for that as well. Fingers crossed these are causing the dog ears - soon as i fit them i'll post back.

Thanks for the input
