    mp 4000 bridge unit

Ok, silly question but is anyone having problems with the bridge units on these. I've had 2 both with under 6k on the clock and dog ears the copies on duplex mode going into the bridge unit causing it to skew in the finisher entrance.

I've watched one do it and i saw it hit the bridge unit guide for internal exit or for the finisher exit(front side). I adjusted the guide height but it still done it. It now looks like it has rectified itself but i was called out yesterday for the same problem on a different m/c with 6k on it - tested it but it was fine but the jam log said entrance sensor of the finisher i.e. its skewing the copies.

Im not too sure about this model, but in the past with the mpc range ive had problems with people not installing the 2 brackets onto the thin black exit rollers just before it enters the bridge unit - this always causes dog ears.

The 2 brackets come with the bridge unit kit and are not used on machines with the wide white exit rollers - only on the thin black exit rollers.

Agree with Smee. I've also had that on the MP4000's. Always read installation instructions when attaching peripherals!

ok, where does the D386 4674 sit then. I've looked at the bu3030 parts manual and it doesn't give me an idea where it goes.

    cheers

I'm fighting this one at the moment, using a better grade of paper helps. The low grade sand paper the customer was using had a definate curl to it, ran a couple of reams of our paper through and it didnt jam once.

I have had this same issue and from what I observed It was dog earing the corners on the way into the bridge unit on duplex only because of excess paper curl. The cure was to file down the two entrance guides on the entrance of the bridge unit. There are two guides that are raisied higher that the corner of the paper was catching on.

Eureka! I've just checked the offending copier and the two guides,D386 4674, are missing! If you want to know where they go Bangin Bishop, check the bridge unit installation guide in the MP4000 sevice manual.

This is our showroom copier that has been reconfigured several times to go out to prospective customer on demo. obviously the bridge unit has been swapped but some one missed the guides.

Thanks for the tip Smee and Koosie, I could have been there for ever looking for something that wasn't there!
