Ricoh 1018 overtone and dark line on rear lead edge

As stated above i have this issue where the machine overtones and gives a black band (from the transfer roller) on the rear, the drum unit in another mc works ok!! I did find a faulty id sensor (through id sensor analysis) but i have replaced this and i am still getting the issues, does anyone have any ideas for this?

Is the TD-sensor OK? If the DV-Unit overtones, you should start by replacing developer and maybe the TD-sensor.

I've had this problem before but mine was/is caused by non oem toner.

results: Black band on lead edge of reverse side on first copy only.
raised image upon feel of text on copy
Hot roller gets covered in toner quicker
More frequent jamming in the pick offs
Occasional overtoning
Darker solids
Creasing copies
and not to forget it strips the gears from the dev box
giving add toner.

All in all its s**t toner but my company keeps using it cause it saves money. We spoke to ricoh about the banding and they said use original toner

I cant say yours is down to non oem toner but thats what causes our problems on these delightfull little m/cs. Soon as i stick a bag of fresh dev in the banding goes and copies are nice and then it sucks in the crap toner....... amazingly the customer never complains about the banding on the back?

Sounds like a transfer cleaning problem. Try adjusting transfer cleaning current.

It can also be the high voltage supply board. Measure the outputs with a multimeter and adjust the dial on the board. I've had this on 1018's, 2018's and 1 MP2000.

will test the hv board, but yes, we are using non oem toner. the copies were fine with another brand of non oem toner for a bit, but as the the toner gets recycled, the other non oem toner would come back in the mix and cause problems again, sounds confusing but i think my theorys correct.

Replace your developer, opc, charge roller and drum blade.

Then run developer initialization in sp mode 2

OPC B039 9510
Dev B039 9640
Charge Roller AD02 7018
Blade B039 2289

I am 100% certain that your dev is shot and if you replace that and also PM your PCU assembly then your fault will be rectified.

All the above items should be replaced after 60K which is the PM cycle

The main culprit in these instances is generic toners. I do not knowe elsewhere but there are toner sellers who believe that what counts is only the number of copies per minute and not the generation of machine.
