    Pro 1357 Ex Parper Jams

    Hi All

Quick question. Is anyone having an above average paper jam problem on tray one on this model. I have to date replaced the feed tyres, then when the fault returned, I swapped over Tray one and Tray two feed units, putting the new feed tyres in tray one. The problem has resurfaced again on tray one. One of the symtoms is that it seems to snag on the seperation roller causing a small indentation on the leading edge.

    Any toughs would be appreciated
    Thanks in advance

    Hi,

Yes, you are right. Problem is in the separation mechanism.
I had same problem on Pro1356ex, paper didn't feed from tandem tray.
I exchanged the paper feed unit between the tandem tray and the lower tray.
Problem migrated with the paper feed unit.
I my case, problem was solved when I disconnected and reconnected again all connections inside the paper feed unit. Especially for solenoid.
    I think this helps you.

i have heard from other engineers on here and at work that the torque limiters are causing problems on these machines.

yep i found that out when i done a search after i posted. Is the sep shaft nice and clean. I found on ricoh doc feeders(sep shaft) the shaft had to be clean and free from any imperfections, dirt etc. I normally rub wet and dry to take the crap off it. Havent had a chance to look at the parts manual so i can only really guess.

Hows tray 2 doing now you changed that from tray 1, is that still doing the same fault?

as they mention Torque Limiter Replacement, mostly if its new from factory they tend to be faulty...
fix the customer first then fix the machine... its simple and makes life more easy.

Tray 2 is running A4R, But I have my suspicions that it would play up if I turned it to A4.....

I worked on this machine today, had to do a PCU PM and Transfer unit. I did nothing other than fan the paper and check nothing was out of place in the right-hand tray. And whilst I'm at it, it loads paper just fine from the left tray. I had my first and only jam after 2500 copies and when I left it had done about 7000 of the job it was busy with, no further problems. But I don't trust it as far as I can throw it!! I was wondering if the paper isn't high enough when it is raise towards the feed rollers.....

I don't think this is the end of my problems, only because I haven't actually done anything, although it is working at the moment.

Thanks for your ideas guys, I'll keep them in mind when I see the machine again, which I have no doubt will be in the near future.

    Cheers

    Hi,
No SC670's on the log. But a good thought though. Spoke to the customer this morning and the machine is still running, for now. Still think it is only a matter of time though. You always worry when a machine starts working without having done anything to get it going.

    Cheers

    Hi all

As expected, the problem returned with a vengence. We have also established that the customer is using 75gsm paper, but this is well within the spec of the machine. Finally escalated the problem. Ricoh came out had a look and have escalated it to Ricoh Europe. So I'm guessing there must be something wrong.

I have in the meantime found out that other people have been having this problem and that the Torque limiters have been modified at least twice, although the part number may not have changed.

So it looks like here may be an underlying problem with these feed units, I'll let you know what transpires from this
