Ricoh 2035 dirty lead edge

Hi, all, I have a B079 (2035) that is getting toner on the very edge of the leading edge of the copies. It is very noticible when you look at a stack of the copies from the side. Voltages are normal, new charge roller and brush installed, machine interior, pcu, and outside of dev unit vacuumed. ( developer is at about 40k). Cleaning lamps are clean. Anyone run into this before?

Try cleaning out the Transfer Unit or replacing belt and blade.

Toner case is empty, and the belt is pretty new. I'll try another transfer cleaning blade.

Toner on the fuser entrance guide is what I have seen cause this.

Is the mag roller coated in toner residue? if so give it a good scrubbing as it will allow toner to attract to the drum where its not needed.

If you open up the side door, has the drum got a coating of toner on it? if so it will be a dirty mag roller.

The specks on the edge are usually not from the transfer unit. Toner accumulates on the drum unit lower or upper frame or fusing unit entrance guide.

Don't forget about drum ground on these guys, the conductive bearings go bad all the time.

Vac out the entire drum unit and all transport areas of paper dust. Pay special attention to cleaning the drum unit frame, especially the lower frame where toner accumulates when it falls from the upper drum unit, and the fuser entrance guide area (as mentioned in an earlier post). Make sure and check the condition of the cleaning area mylar seal in the drum unit also.

I usually do a developer stir frequently on these machines to keep it charged up.

Conductive bearings? Got a Location in the parts manual for these. I've got the manual, just wanna know what you are talking about.

A developer change took care of it. The mag roller assembly frame was caked with toner from overtoning. (There's a shock) The fuser cleaning roller was also a small contributor to the problem. (There's another shock) I recently installed an aftermarket cleaning roller in hope that it would work better then OEM. It failed miserably and quickly. This entire series was based on the a230 POS and it has not improved much at all. I have NEVER had one of these machines go a full pm cycle.

Try pulling up on the left front of the machine, like you are going to pick it up off the floor. The scanners still have a problem with being bent down (causing shadows), usually from techs leaning on the left front of the scanner table.

Maybe techs in your area, but in the South its overweight nurses!

I'm serious, only happens for us at Nursing Homes or Home Health Offices. Of course these places usually have coffee or soda spilled somewhere on the machine as well.
